OXNARD – Oxnard this week likely will be doling out the first bit of cash from its new half-cent sales tax increase to repair about four miles of pitted, cracked and pothole-damaged roads in the city.
Dipping into the Measure O sales tax account, the city wants to spend about $662,000 on repairs to dozens of roads and alleys, Mayor Tom Holden said.
“It’s the first time we’ve used the money but it won’t be the last,” he said. “Keep in mind these were the areas residents consistently listed as priorities when we did our initial outreach.”
