OXNARD – A woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol Saturday after the car she was driving killed her 17-year-old daughter.

It wasn’t the first time Oxnard resident Judith Ramirez, 37, has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

In 2004, she spent 48 hours in jail after pleading guilty to DUI, court records show. She was fined $2,650 in that case.

In 2007, she was again charged with DUI and driving with a suspended or revoked license, but the outcome of the case is unclear in court records.

The single-vehicle crash Saturday killed her daughter, Victoria Castro Ramirez, 17, of Oxnard.

The crash injured the driver, her 4-year-old son and a 21-year-old family friend. The four were in the SUV when it ran off Vineyard Avenue north of Oxnard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
